Cold Chisels are tools made from forged tempered steel which are commonly used in building and renovation work. Cold chisels are used to cut stone and bricks, but can be used for removing old plaster or rendering. Cold chisels can be easily be sharpened on a grinder, and should be lighly oiled to prevent rusting. Cold chisels come in a variety of sizes, from fine engraving chisels that are tapped with very light hammers, to kango chisels used in very powerful demolition breakers.

When using cold chisels for removing plaster or rendering a club hammer can be used to apply powerful punches to the head of the chisel to maxmise efficiency. However because the cold chisel handle is very long and narrow, hitting the chisel at force could mean you miss and hit your hand. Using a rubber handled cold chisel will protect your hand from miss hits!
